Our Credit list
credit list
This is a list of credits that will be found in our tittle opening doing this will benefit us when it comes to editing as we are all ready aware of the credits our film needs.
Requierd credits
today in class we discussed the common credits in a film opening name of studio name of production company a (producer name)production a film by ( director name) starring films title featuring casting or casting by music or composed by or original score by production design or production designer editor or edited by director of photography producer or produced by , executive producer story or story by based on the characters by or based on the characters created by writers or written by director or directed by I am aware not all of these are used in every film and only some of these will be relevant for our title sequence but this gives us an idea of what we will include and help when it comes to making our film time line.

Production schedule
producton schedule
This is a scheduled for our day of filming, with everything that we need the times we will meet. This is essential so we all know the CORRECT information for our day of filming,This will make sure everyone turns up at the write time with the props needed if any of these where to be broken it could ruin the hole day of filming, for example if some one arrived late we would not be able to film till they arrive which then may not be possible as it could be to dark . so this scheduled is needed to ensure everything is planned ready for the day of filming.

Our credit time line
This is a time line that shows us where in the sequence we want our credits to go ,the time that they will come in ,how long they will be on screen for and what time they will leave. I feel that this is essential as without this you will have no idea of where your tittles will go you could find that you don't have enough room for all your tittle so planning has to be done very carefully. This will also save time on editing when you start to edit it will be clear in your mind what you want and where you want it you can get straight on with it ,without this editing will be a struggle with so many decisions to make this will really slow own the editing process

Risk Assessment
Abigail Risk Assesmnet
I carried out the risk assessment to ensure that as a group we knew the risk that could take place and the actions that would need to take place in order for them to be prevented and know what to do in the case of an emergency.

Final Synopsis Idea
After each group member individually
pitched their idea we as a group decided on our final synopsis. We ensured everyone’s
idea was included by gathering all our idea and putting them together to make
one, this meant so everyone had a say in the story.

Research into previous as media work
killer This is an opening scene to a film called killer created by two as media students and received a grade C. From looking at this i felt the use of the hand held came was really effective when used it gave a really good effect and made you as the audience feel part of the film like you was there with them becoming involved in what looks like an horrific event, but i feel that although it looks good for some parts , where as others it was not needed and they over used it making the film look armature and unprofessional . It was good that It was easy to identify the genre of the film with it applying very well to the codes and conventions of a thriller there was dark lighting, key colours black and red ,the eerie fast paced music complemented the scene as it matched very well with what is going on. I think it would be even better if the titles that where shown where more interesting i think they where very simple and in some ways boring . As its a title sequence the actual titles are very important and could have been improved on. From looking at this tittle sequence has given me the idea to use hand held came if able when making our title sequence as ours is also a thriller i feels it gives a really good affect works well add to the atmosphere and involves the audience The Edge
The first thing i noticed where the titles and the way they where included into the scene like the production name on top of the building , this was also good because the building also has a significance in the film. with the other titles following the leading lines within the building this works well because they are current thought the film . This all would of been created in editing showing they where very well planned from the start they new what they wanted before they had even started filming , when making our tittle sequence i know we have to be aware of everything we want to include as it will be much harder to add in after and could affect our grade . I though this idea was really creative and original and shows the high use of technical skills they have. when involving our group production and titles i also what to do some thing very creative and different and really like this idea and think we would be able to take parts of it and make it our own.The use of close up where used well we where able to see a clear expression on the characters face and this told us allot about what was going on idea of the characters personality . I really like that they didn't just use students or people of the same age they actually went out and really thought about who would be relevant for that part and had a good idea of the characters profile and personality i Think it worked really well and some thing I have not seen in any of the as openings i have watched by as media students.
dumb found dead
From the start I was very unsure of what was going on and found it very confusing to watch . struggling to understand what was going on and the characters in the story where hard to distinguish who they where and at times it was very hard to hear what they where saying as the music drowned out there voices making what was going on even harder to understand, so to improve would need to make sure that the story line and what is going on is made clear to the audience in order for them to understand and make sure that voices and sounds are able to be heard easily this could have been done in editing as this is some thing we had to do with out preliminary task changing the pitch to mach certain sounds louder . I think the change in the back ground music worked really well and showed the audience that it was an action comedy with the change to a playful song also allowing the music to match with the scene but they could of made it flow better i feel there is a jump between the two and could be made better making it more enjoyable for the audience .some thing i would like to use is how the title linked very well to the film when (DUMB found DEAD) appears on the screen it is followed by gun shots that we are able to see this could be a connotation to what will later happen in the film and the representation of danger and death i think this works really well and when making our title ensure that ours also links in with our film and apply to our codes and conventions to our chosen genre.

Mind map codes and conventions
This helped to gain ideas and inspiration to the types of codes and conventions that we could use in our film. looking at range of different thrillers not only gave us loads of ideas but helped determine what codes and conventions could work in our media and what wouldn't.

Course Work Genre Decisions
As a group we decided that the genre for our opening sequence will be a thriller , when looking through a number of genres we felt that thriller would be the best to do. from my research I have become very aware of the codes and conventions and what is expected of a thriller and compared to other genres they are the easy to portray effective to ensure the audience is aware of the genre we have chosen.

This applies with the convention we see in many thrillers the hidden identity of the protagonist ,they use a number of different camera shots and techniques to abstract the audience from being able to see his full identity . We are able to see some close ups of parts of his face but they never give away the full identity this adds to the mystery of the film and builds up the tension for the viewers.the way in which they have done this is very clever especially the reflection in the picture and if able to i would like to Incorporated this idea into our opening and feel this is a key convention to a thriller. The tittle also apply s to the codes and conventions of a thriller with the red and black writing being the main focus and significant colour for a thriller.

Script writing practice
Avocado Baby
Looking at scripts and being able to write a practice script gave us the understanding of how we would write our own , this will be very beneficial because when we come to writing our script we will already have a clear idea on how to do this , meaning we can get straight on with it. we will then have more time for other parts of the planning process and longer to film out media.

The preliminary Task
This task involved us filming a short sequence that would involve the character walking through a door entering a room where they would sit down and have a conversation with another character evolving around a basic story line. We would have to make sure that the 180 degree rule would not get broken, ensure we used Shot, reverse shot, and included a match on action. Once everything was filmed editing took place for this we used final cut for many this would be the first time giving us a chance to experiment gaining understanding and knowledge for future tasks.
The story behind our short film involves a student being late to his detention when he tries to sneak into the class room without the teacher noticing ,this fails and the pair are involved in a argument ending with the student being sent out and the teacher continuing with her work. This storyline was very basic but we decided this on the basis of our surrounding as we where based in a school we took advantage of what was around us.

The 180 degree rule
A visual image of the 180 degree rule
The 180 degree rule is there to prevent confusion for the views, this view is very important and should not be broken especially when filming a conversation. This rule means that the characters in the scene always have the same left or right to each other, the rule is broken when the camera crosses the line this is called a reverse angle when this happens it causes a disruption to the scene and confusion to the viewers.
